About Our Speaker
Inducted into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014, Jon Topolski is still the baseball program’s all-time leader in hits (333), runs (285), triples (25) and home runs (50) more than a quarter-century after his playing career ended (1996-99).
A four-year starter in center field and three-time All-Big 12 pick, “Topper” was a Freshman All-American in 1996, when he hit .319 with nine doubles, six triples, three homers and 16 stolen bases. A slick-fielding shortstop and slap hitter in high school, Topolski showed off his home run prowess as a junior, when he hit .344 with 19 dingers and 54 RBIs.
Earning third-team All-America honors as a senior in 1999, he hit a career-best .386 with 17 homers and 68 RBIs and collected 90 hits. Topolski was also a two-time Academic All-American and was part of the USA Baseball team in ’98 for the World Cup qualifying tournament in Nicaragua.
Drafted in the fourth round by his hometown Houston Astros, Topolski played six years of pro baseball and got as high as Triple-A New Orleans, hitting .255 with 53 career homers, 87 doubles, 32 triples and 273 runs scored.
Returning to graduate from Baylor after his pro career ended, Topolski has been the president of the Tulsa-based Vineyard Financial Group since January 2016. Jon and his wife, Sarah, have three daughters, Whitney, Hollis and Elin.
