Baylor, A Place That Feels Like Home

Dr. Geoffrey Griggs and wife

“When I think of Baylor, I think of opportunity and growth,” Dr. Geoffrey Griggs (ABC ’25) says. “Baylor has been a place of transformation for me—not just professionally, but spiritually and personally.”

Since arriving in Waco with his wife in 2013, Geoffrey has been a part of Baylor’s growth. He’s seen new buildings rise and traditions strengthen, but what stands out to him the most? The people! “The love and support I’ve received, especially during Homecoming and alumni weekends, made me feel like part of the Baylor Family, even before I had a Baylor [Alumni By Choice decree].”

One tradition especially close to Geoffrey’s heart is the Kente Ceremony. For graduating students, it’s a moment to be honored by someone who deeply impacted their journey. As the student’s parting words are read aloud and a stole is placed around their shoulders, the ceremony highlights academic achievement and the relationships, resilience, and faith that made it possible.

We’re grateful for the leadership, care, and purpose Dr. Griggs brings not only to Multicultural Affairs, but to the entire university. His story reminds us that the Baylor Family is made stronger by those who live out its values each and every day.
