Baylor was the only school Tori Templet (BA ’22) applied to—she just knew it was where she belonged. Baylor played a key role in the start of her music career, and in just four years, she went from writing songs in her freshman dorm room to headlining at Common Grounds her senior year.

Tori reflected on those years, “The people are what make up Baylor University. And I think that’s what makes this place standout amongst other colleges. At the heart of the school are intentional, kind people that want you to succeed no matter what that looks like.” Poetry classes with Dr. Honum and Dr. Daniel fueled her songwriting, history lessons with Dr. Johnson sparked her creativity, and professors like Kevin Tankersley proved Baylor faculty truly care about students beyond the classroom.

That foundation helped propel Tori to the national stage as she competed on The Voice. And earlier this spring, she returned to Waco for a special performance at Common Grounds—coming full circle to the place where it all began.
