JJ Joe

JJ Joe (BBA ’93, MBA ’94) was more than a record-setting quarterback, he was a beloved voice, a trailblazer, and a proud representative of the Baylor spirit.

As Baylor’s first Black starting quarterback in 1990, JJ made history with quiet strength, humility, and unwavering leadership. Off the field, he became a trusted voice for Baylor fans as a football color analyst, and his dedication to the Baylor Family never wavered, whether he was mentoring students, encouraging young athletes, or lending wisdom to fellow alumni.

His character and impact were felt by all who knew him, and Baylor is better because of the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

We’re thankful for JJ Joe—his courage, kindness, and commitment to excellence will always be part of the Baylor story.
