Fated Friendship: Three Generations of Baylor Bonds
Editor's note: This story was updated Aug. 11, 2026, at 1:09 p.m. to reflect an addition to the story.
Linda Willingham Dean (BS ’70) and Bonnie Luft (BS ’71, MS ’74) became fast friends when they joined Kappa Theta (now Tridelta). Soon, these sorority sisters met their husbands at Baylor, marrying only two years apart.
Their parallel lives continued as they both became pregnant with daughters. Inspired by a fellow sorority sister, Amanda Davis, Linda and Bonnie both decided to name their daughters "Amanda." Following their mothers' legacy, Amanda Dean (BS ’01) and Amanda Luft (BS ’00) saw their own friendship blossom during their time at Baylor.
As fate would have it, Amanda Dean would even meet her husband at Amanda Luft's wedding! She and the charming DJ, Paul Hosni, honored their friends Amanda and Scott Christian in return by having them in their own wedding party.
The magnetism between these two friends didn't stop there. From Texas to Florida and now Georgia, the Hosnis and Christians have not only lived in the same places (and on the same streets!), but they have shared some of life’s most memorable moments: weddings, welcoming babies of their own, and sending their sons to Baylor.
Now, their journey includes the next generation as they prepare to move their daughters to Baylor University, continuing a proud legacy of being Baylor Bears. The shared commitment to supporting Baylor reflects not only their individual connections to the university but also the strong bond and sense of community that has grown between their families over time. It's a testament to the enduring relationships forged through shared experiences and mutual support.
As their paths continue to intertwine, the enduring spirit of Baylor camaraderie makes life more fun and family ties even sweeter.
