Finding Her Voice at Baylor
For Suzy Thompson Mighell (BA ’87), Baylor has always felt like home. After growing up in a public high school where living out her faith often felt exhausting, Baylor was a deep breath — a place where faith and learning worked hand in hand. During her time on campus, Suzy found a community that strengthened her faith, sharpened her leadership, and gave her the confidence to use her voice. Writing for the Baylor Lariat, serving in Student Foundation, and building lifelong friendships helped lay a foundation she still leans on today.
Baylor also taught Suzy wisdom she carries with her long after graduation: how to lead with purpose, serve with joy, and give back generously. Those lessons continue to shape her life as an author Empty Nest Blessed: 60 Days to Finding Joy in the Empty Nest and speaker, and as the founder of @emptynestblessed , where she encourages families entering a new season with hope and grace.
Suzy continues to serve Baylor through scholarships, advisory leadership, and faithful support of the University she loves. For her, Baylor didn’t just prepare her for a career — it shaped who she became, and the impact continues to ripple through her family, her faith, and the Baylor Family.
