Sisterhood Is The Best Teacher

As a political science major, Shannon Seale (BA '03) discovered a passion for teaching while developing the critical thinking, communication and leadership skills that would guide her career. 

"Baylor didn’t just give me a degree—it gave me direction, " Shannon shared, "As a political science major at Baylor University, I found my footing in the classroom and discovered a passion for teaching that led me to a successful and passionate career teaching high school social studies, particularly AP Government, AP Macroeconomics and AP U.S. History."

Outside the classroom, she served as vice president of recruitment for Alpha Delta Pi’s Zeta Chi chapter and participated in Baylor GOLD football hostess program. These experiences that deepened her love for Baylor also unknowingly prepared her for the future. 

After years teaching social studies, including AP Government and AP U.S. History, Shannon now serves as principal of Odem Elementary School, where she leads with the same values she first developed at Baylor. 

"Leading a campus requires the same core principles that I learned through leading in ADPi: casting vision, managing a thousand moving pieces, holding people accountable and building a culture where all can grow and thrive," Shannon mused. 

More than two decades after graduation, she remains deeply connected to the Baylor Family—cheering on the Bears, serving as marketing advisor for Baylor ADPi and leading as president of the State of Texas Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association.   

From the classroom to campus leadership and beyond, Baylor helped build a foundation that continues to shape her impact today.
