About Our Coach
Dave Aranda
Baylor Football Head Coach
Dave Aranda, a 2020 National Champion and 31-year coaching veteran, is entering his seventh season as Baylor’s head football coach. Hired in 2020 after four seasons as LSU’s associate head coach and defensive coordinator, Aranda led Baylor to a Big 12 Championship and a Sugar Bowl win in 2021, finishing that season ranked No. 5 nationally—the highest final ranking in program history. Under his leadership, the Bears have earned three bowl bids and had one of the nation's best offensive attacks in 2025 with QB Sawyer Robertson, TE Michael Trigg and WR Josh Cameron. Baylor enters 2026 with a new quarterback at the helm with a familiar last name. DJ Lagway, a 5-star recruit coming out of high school and son of former Baylor running back Derek Lagway, will lead the Bears offense after transferring from Florida. Revitalized with new talent and returning standouts, Baylor Football is looking to compete at the highest level going into the 2026 season.
