ABOUT OUR LEGEND
Nick Florence etched his name in the hearts of Baylor fans on November 26, 2011, when he opted to burn his redshirt and came off the bench after eventual Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III suffered a concussion. Florence threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in leading the Bears to a 66-42 win over Texas Tech, Baylor’s first against the Red Raiders in the Big 12 era.
Pressed into action four games into his true freshman season in 2009, Florence started seven of the last nine games and earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors when he threw for a school-record 427 yards and three touchdowns in a road win at Missouri. As a senior in 2012, Nick threw for a school-record 4,309 yards and 33 touchdowns, leading the Bears to an upset win over No. 1 Kansas State and capping his career with a 49-28 win over UCLA in the Holiday Bowl.
Foregoing a possible NFL career, Florence began his post-playing career as an intern with Baylor University Development. Taking a full-time position in January 2014, he was promoted to Associate AD in 2019 and has been the Assistant Vice President for Principal Gifts since August 2024. Nick and his wife, Rachel, have two children, Ella Kate and Judah.
