About Our Speaker
An ESPN analyst for the last seven years, King McClure played in 129 games with 60 starts in his four-year career with Baylor Basketball.
A four-star recruit out of Triple A Academy in Dallas, McClure was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that increases the risk of cardiac arrest and was initially told that he would never play basketball again.
But seeking a second opinion, King underwent surgery for an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) that shocks the heart back to a safe range when the machine detects an abnormal rhythm. He was able to finish out his Baylor career, averaging a career-best 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists during a senior season when he helped the Bears reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
After graduating from Baylor a semester early in December 2018, King started his broadcasting career at 22 years old in the summer of 2019 and has climbed the ladder at ESPN to become one of the network’s most respected college and NBA analysts.
