Orhue Odaro (BS '11)

Dr. Orhue Odaro has dedicated her career to providing exceptional patient care while advancing medical education, research, and mentorship. As an internal medicine physician and assistant professor in the Division of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, she is recognized for her expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to developing the next generation of physicians.
A 2011 Baylor University graduate, Dr. Odaro earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry before completing her Doctor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in 2015. She remained at Baylor College of Medicine to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine and later served as chief medical resident, demonstrating her leadership and dedication to academic medicine.
During her time at Baylor University, Dr. Odaro was an active member of the Honors College, the Multicultural Association of Pre-Health Students, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her Baylor experience fostered both academic excellence and spiritual growth, shaping the values that continue to guide her career.
Throughout her medical training and professional career, Dr. Odaro has contributed to advancing the field of internal medicine through research and scholarship. She has presented research at regional and national medical conferences and has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. Her achievements have been recognized with honors including the Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Honor Society Award, the Alpha Chi Medal, and Baylor College of Medicine's Intern of the Month Award.
In 2020, Dr. Odaro was featured by Baylor Alumni for her work on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Reflecting on her Baylor experience, she shared that the spiritual foundation she developed as a student prepared her to navigate uncertainty with faith and purpose. "Being able to have something outside of myself to serve as a lens through which to view the world has helped me personally in terms of being a Christian and having a relationship with God," she said.
Today, Dr. Odaro continues to combine clinical excellence, research, education, and compassionate service in her work, making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, colleagues, and future physicians alike.
